FTTB Line Activation

In order to use your iiNet FTTB service, a line activation task is required to be performed by an iiNet contractor inside the communications room of your building. This cannot be done remotely, it is a physical task that needs to be performed onsite by a licenced telecommunications technician.

You, or a representative on your behalf (over the age of 18 years) is required to be present to provide access to your building in order to perform the activation task.

Your service will be connected up to the telephone outlet inside your premises provided there is no fault with the wiring. Please locate and choose the outlet you wish to have activated before the appointment and make sure the technician can access the outlet without obstruction.

If you are asked to arrange access to the communications room in your building, or to contact your building manager in advance, please do so otherwise the technician may not be able to activate your service on the day.

There is no charge for this service.

Appointment Windows

We book appointments in 4 hour timeslots. We regret that we cannot provide fixed time appointments due to logistical constraints. You may select the option of being contacted 30 minutes prior to arrival though, so that you do not need to wait at the premises for 4 hours.

Most activations take less than 20 minutes to complete.

FTTB Modem

In most cases, iiNet will be sending you a new FTTB modem. It is recommended that you wait for the modem to arrive before booking the line activation appointment.

Existing FTTB Modem

If you are not being sent a new modem, and are using an existing FTTB modem from a previous address, please be aware of the following:

  • If for whatever reason your existing FTTB modem is not configured for your current account, you will need to configure it manually in order to use your service after line activation.
  • We cannot assist you with modem configuration.
  • You may need to contact iiNet for assistance with modem configuration.
  • iiNet may start charging you for the service from the date of the technician visit.

BYO Modem

If you wish to use your own modem, please be aware of the following:

  • You will need to configure your device manually in order to use your service after line activation.
  • We cannot assist you with modem configuration.
  • You may need to contact iiNet for assistance with modem configuration.
  • iiNet may start charging you for the service from the date of the technician visit.

On the Day

On the day of the appointment, please unpack, plug in and switch on your modem. If you are unsure on how to plug in the modem, the technician may assist you, but cannot assist with device configuration.
